MOL Indonesia: Taking Action for a Greener Jakarta

Indonesia

On 4 September, representatives from across MOL Indonesia came together for the CSR initiative to support waste management efforts in Jakarta by donating food composting devices to community waste banks, they are,

  1. Bank Sampah GSG Taman Kota, West Jakarta
  2. Bank Sampah Jambu, South Tangerang
  3. Bank Sampah Sirkular, South Tangerang
  4. Bank Sampah Gandaria, Depok
  5. Bank Sampah Arifilia, East Jakarta
  6. Bank Sampah Matahari, East Jakarta

Donations of composting devices

Waste management remains one of the key environmental challenges in Jakarta, with organic waste accounting for a significant portion of the city’s daily waste. Recognising this challenge, MOL Indonesia saw an opportunity to contribute by supporting local communities in transforming food waste into a sustainable resource.

As part of the initiative, six food composting devices were donated to community-based waste banks across Greater Jakarta, helping to strengthen their capacity to process organic waste and contributing to broader efforts towards a cleaner, greener Jakarta.

To foster greater environmental awareness within the organisation, MOL Indonesia will keep employees informed on the initiative’s progress and objectives through internal awareness sessions and quarterly updates from participating waste banks. These updates include the volume of organic waste processed and compost produced, providing greater visibility of the programme’s impact over time.

Food Bank Visit

The team visited one of the community-based food bank, Bank Sampah GSG, Taman Kota, West Jakarta, where they witnessed how residents have transformed a densely populated area into a vibrant community space with vegetable gardens, fishponds, and poultry farming. The compost produced through the initiative will be used to support these community activities, demonstrating how organic waste can be turned into resource that benefit the local community.

MOL Indonesia Added Sustainable Efforts

Inspired by the initiative, MOL Indonesia office has also taken steps to bring sustainable practices by introducing a food composting device to process organic waste generated in the workplace, with the resulting compost is then used to fertilise plants cared for.

MOL remains committed in environmental conservation and dedicated to supporting initiatives that foster a cleaner and greener future as part of BLUE ACTION for ALL.
BLUE ACTION for ALL expresses the Group’s commitment to respecting all environment, and to promote social contribution activities through global group-wide efforts.
